Our April 12th meeting showed improving weather with 7 members riding their bikes to the Black Forest Brewery. Plus Gary took some of them on an after-meeting ride. I brought my Triton project for show and tell, but it came on a trailer since it is far from running!
Our next meeting will be on “the second Saturday of the month” which will be May 10th at 11:00.
We had a presentation at the meeting on the Colorado Concours D’Elegance and Exotic Sports Car Show. It is on Sunday, June 8, from 9am to 3pm at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton. This is the 42nd annual event, but it is the first time they have allowed motorcycles to attend. Entry fee is $25.00 and monies go to early childhood education for at at-risk children and families. I plan on taking a bike or two.
Google Concours d’Elegance and it will take you to the website. It says $50 entry, but on the registration form you will see motorcycles are $25. You can do a mail-in form by May 9, or on-line registration at “Click here to register”. Motorcycles are at the bottom of the on-line entry. On-line registration closes on May 16th.
The next big event for BMAC is in July. Gary Hopkins will lead the annual Lake City overnight ride. The ride will leave on Saturday, July 12th, go over Cottonwood Pass into Gunnison, then on to Lake City where he has reserved cabins for the overnight stay. The return route on Sunday will include Creede, South Fork, Del Norte and up to Salida. Then you can make your way home to Denver or Colorado Springs. Gary is going out of town on May 8th, and won’t be at the next meeting, so if you are interested in joining the 10 riders already signed up, contact him at [email protected] or call or text at 719-337-2720. There are a few spaces left and a $50.00 deposit is required.
The annual BMAC picnic at Frank and Joanne Puckett’s house is on Sunday, July 20th this year. Put that on your calendar and more details will be coming. My guess is we will not have a regular meeting in July, considering that the Lake City ride is on our meeting weekend and the picnic is the following weekend. July is always a crazy busy month!
Thanks for the great support at our meetings, and I hope to see you on Saturday, May 10.
Frank Puckett, interim president
