President’s notes for May

Meeting this Sat at 11590 Black Forest Brewing at 11 am.

I hope that this finds everyone well and enthused as ever. It has been a long winter and it seems like warmer weather just keeps avoiding us. I guess it will be hot soon enough. After finishing up some maintenance on my 1965 Econoline van, including a new rebuilt steering box I decided that I needed to get out of town and try it out. Since it is still snowing in the mountains I thought I might head south and visit our friends Dana and Robin down in Las Cruses.

Dana was always active with the club and Robin was our treasurer for five years so I was jazzed to have a chance to visit with them. It has been just two years since they moved away but the house and shop looks like they have lived there forever. Both Dana and Robin are two of the most talented people you will ever meet and Dana is one who is not afraid of hard work. He can turn even the hardest jobs into finished projects while many of us are still trying to come up with a plan. I guess that is why he is still the most sought after crew chief at the salt flats every year. I still call him Chief from our time on the salt together. His new house is nice of course but the shop is really why he is there. We took some pictures that you should be getting in another email from Dana. If I try to attach pictures to my AOL and send it out to the club it doesn’t work.

My old van got me back in time to pack up for a weekend motorcycle camping trip at the Royal Gorge with the BMW club. TA and I rode down together and camped with eight other hardy souls. We were lucky to catch a break from the wind and the cold so it turned out to be a fun time. I missed the last meeting but I was told that there was a good turn out. Cheers to you all! It looks like we might get a break from the cold wet weather on Saturday if the wind doesn’t blow too hard, Hope to see you all there again this time.

I didn’t get any kind of agenda together so bring a story, bring a show and tell, bring a spare, bring yourself!!

Sincerely,

Kris Geller Prez
